Yes we will! Not just because I am going to find it hard to give it up (that will be a separate blog!) but because it is needed!
In case you haven’t heard of Emily’s Gift…Why have we raised £500k?
What did Emily’s Gift do?
It will fund a psychologist on the Emily Kent Unit (children’s oncology) at the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for the children having cancer treatment and their families for 10 years. and she started on January 29th 2024.
Our target was £500k and we hit it with donors, events & most importantly Pledgers. These People pledged to give an amount – mainly £2000 either as a one off payment or so much a year or monthly. They are all paying different amounts over different time scales! Thank goodness I am not doing the paperwork!

How did we raise £500k?
Donors
Many lovely people donated on just giving randomly after reading something
Donated on just giving or in cash or cheque at an event
Gave on just giving after reading about Emily’s Gift on social media or in the press.
We have 2 legacies which will come in when probate has been done.
Events
Many people organised their own events to raise money. Some because they had a family member who had a child with cancer in the past or the present. These events often raise the most because the friends and family have watched how having to live with a child being diagnosed with cancer and then observe how the family organises themselves around treatment, anxiety and looking after maybe other children and each other has struck a chord with them.
Pledges
These have been crucial in the campaign but are the biggest risk for actually getting the money in so hence I feel we need to raise more than the £500k to have a buffer in case some of the pledged money does not come in.

Ideas for fundraising
If you would like to do something it really doesn’t have to be big! If 10 people had a coffee morning, sold cups of tea/coffee with cake along with a raffle and raised £100 that would be another £1000.

Challenges
You could always take on a challenge. What have you always wanted to do?
Climb a mountain
Run 10k
Cycle with your mates
Swim the channel?!! That distance maybe, in a warm swimming pool!
Be silent for 24 hours or not use your phone for 24 hours?
So yes, we are still fundraising until the end of the year. Not as crazily as I did over the last year but I will from now on have more time to support you with your idea.
What should you do next?
Message me & we will come up with something.
