It has been a while.
In fact, it’s been well over a year since I last sat down to write a blog.
Life had other plans!
Last time I blogged it was during my breast cancer journey which was immediately followed by my High Sheriff of Gloucestershire year so now I have an opportunity to slow down, reassess and focus on what really matters.
There were operations, treatment, recovery and a whirlwind year of raising awareness of children being excluded from school, visiting many institutions teaching or mentoring children, visiting all Sorts of charities & lots of formal occasions representing the King in the High Sheriff role.

Now, I’m sort of free & looking forward to what comes next & getting my blog going again is on my list.
This feels like a new chapter
If you’ve followed me over the years, you’ll know that I’ve always believed in living fully and giving generously. Whether that’s through charity work, supporting local businesses, speaking at events or simply encouraging someone who needs it, that purpose hasn’t changed.
But something new is happening too…
I’ve finally started writing my book.
For years people have said, “You should write a book! Your story! But I would rather write something that is useful & helpful!’
The book is being written for organisations who don’t have professional fundraisers, huge budgets or dedicated marketing teams. It’s for the volunteers, the PTA members, the sports clubs, the small charities and the community groups who simply want to make a difference but aren’t always sure where to start.

I’m excited.
I’m also a little nervous.
Writing a book is very different from organising an event or standing on a stage. It’s quieter. Slower. It makes you think. It challenges you to turn years of experience into something that someone else can pick up and use.
Alongside the book, I’ll be bringing this blog back to life.
I’ll be sharing stories from the charities and communities I visit, lessons I’ve learnt (sometimes the hard way!), fundraising ideas, conversations that make me think, and perhaps a few behind-the-scenes moments from everyday life.
If something I’ve experienced can help someone else, then it’s worth sharing.
So, here’s to new beginnings.
Thank you for still being here.

I’d love to know… if you could read one blog from me over the next few months, what would you want it to be about?
Something in my High Sheriff Year? Who did I meet? Where there any funny events?
Julie
